Tourism has been recognized as a priority sector of the Bulgarian Economy. That is the reason to pay special attention to the three most important factors of its accelerated development, namely: tourist resources, facilities and personnel. Based on the analysis of current state of tourism, this paper suggests some conclusions and recommendations for its modernization and optimization. The problem of personnel has been thoroughly discussed and serious difficulties outlined. The author argues that a state agency of tourism should be set up (Ministerial level), which should coordinate the tourist sector in this country.
