Culture tourism and museums: a concept and principles

Summary

Museums are important assets of any place and have always been inherent targets of cultural tourism. A concept has been offered in this paper, as well as some principles for better utilization of these invaluable treasures of Bulgaria. An attempt has been made to outline a potential for better management of museums as well as enhancement of their economic role through tourism on both national and regional levels. The recent trends in cultural tourism have been analyzed, in the context of the role of museums for its more effective development.
